Salon hair colour too expensive

For those not brave enough to colour their hair, like me, it's worth looking for a good mobile hairdresser. I use a mobile hairdresser for a full head of highlights on my long hair. It costs me £40, including a cut. My hairdresser works in an expensive salon in a major city. To go to the salon would cost me over £100.0

@citygirl It sounds as if the only reason you are considering paying more for the salon instead of the DIY job is because of what your friend thinks. That's the worst reason ever for going to a salon.Total debt 11/1/2011 €5350.65Total debt 12/12/12 €3222.31CrazyClothesChallenge 2013 #006 €34.08/€5000

its harder when u have blonde highlights
i have 2 hairdressers in my street, one nextdoor, the other 3 doors away (and i went to school with her)
HOWEVER i want to be pampered. want to sit and read magazines instead of trying to have a conversation with a hairdresser who is in my home...
i do go to a top salon once a month - varies £65 - £95 depending on amount of highlights & treatments.
but i love my hair and it makes me feel good
i work hard !!! x0 -

...............also, I don't know that I would take a great deal of notice of what my OH observed re my hair either. I don't think he would have a clue if I'd spent 55p or £55 and whether it looked the way it is supposed to look or not :rotfl:
Yours of course maybe different!!
The main reason I go to a salon is because I can't manage to just colour the regrowth and I haven't really got anyone patient enough and available when I need it, to help me out. I used to just put the colour all over each time. I got away with it when my hair was short, because it grows quickly and I was constantly getting it cut. However, now it's longer, the build-up of colour would make the colour look very dark and flat if it was put all over each time. Also, no matter how careful I was, I used to make a mess, stain the bath, drip on paintwork, floorings, towels etc and I hated all the cleaning up. If needs must, I would do it at home, but I'm prepared to pay a reasonable amount at the salon, as mentioned earlier.
What you think and want to do is the important thing.0 -
Salons do charge rediculous prices but thats how they afford to trade and pay wages.
Why not go to a wholesalers and buy the colour the salon use on your hair.
In some hair and beauty suppliers, they also sell to the public.
So you could get the same product the salon uses for around 70% cheaper.
In the wholesalers, trade obviously do get a bigger discount but you will still pay alot less than you would in the salon.
Hair colours can range from £7 to £20 depending on the wholesalers and the brand.
You can get most hair colour brands salons use and they do not sell high street brands. But professional brands at wholesale prices work out the same price as high street brands in your favourite shop!Naomi Clarke0
