ive tried them all and imho tesco basic (6 for 44p) are the best
i personally dont like too much filling and i hate the gritty old fruit that i have found in most of the well known brands including bakers

This was on the christmas cookery program this morning with AWThompson, m&s came second and Asdas were first in their top 5 of mince pies.

the other 3 were Morrisons, Somerfield and tesco ithink but cant remember what order ! They all looked lovely though ! AArgh - the diet can wait til after New Year, whats another couple of weeks !
  • Ohhh pies I think the best ones are made with real mince and none of that fancy sweet vegetarian stuff. Then again I do just love me pies, pies, pies. i love pies me.

Buy a jar or mincemeat and some ready made pastry and make your own so much nicer and fresher :)

Aldi luxury ones are very nice, they are full and taste quite boozy @6 for £1.09 locally.
But the best mince pies I have tasted this year are Greggs bakers, 5 for £1.
I usually make my own from Nigellas Frangipane mince pie pastry, but can't resist a couple of Greggs when I'm passing. I've asked them for the ingredients so I could try to copy but they said that it's not possible to give that to me.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.
  • Tesco Finest Mince Pies 6 Pack .... Rich all butter shortcrust pastry. Luxury mincemeat containing vine fruits and cherries. Laced with brandy ... SAVE 10p Was £1.48 Now £1.38

  • Duchy are definately the best, 2.99 for 6 so pricey but tasty!
