Which are the best Mince Pies?

Always thought marks and spencers were the best mince pies shop bought but have tried asda ones and they are yummy. I thought about buying some and dusting with icing sugar and passing them off as my own or wrappin up in a nice box and giving as pressies as i dont have much dosh this year.
Anyone got any recommendations before i hit the shelves?

Have you tried them from Lidl....and Netto.... yummy.... taste soooooo fresh........ and the pastry tastes sooooo butterry and they melt in your mouth.... you could pass them off as homemade...;)
  • Last week my sister made this from a recipe card we got from Waitrose
    http://www.waitrose.com/food_drink/recipes/recipesearch/recipe/0611r07.asp

She bought the mincemeat from Fortnum & Mason and used the rolled out pastry from the supermarket. Within half an hour (including 20-25 cooking time in the oven) we had a delicious and different twist to the traditional mince pie. The seed toppings went really well with the mincemeat, as did the brandy cream (also from the supermarket).

Tesco are selling flaky pastry mince pies.2 boxes 4 in a box bogof 99p and they are scrumy.
  • My husband makes the M&S ones and the Asda ones and he brought some home and i can honestly say i liked the asda extra special ones best. Although, if you want to pass off as home-made, i would use the M&S ones, as the pastry tastes like my mums (which is why i prefer the asda ones, LOL)! Asda are doing them on special, but i can't remember what the offer is, sorry. I think it might be 2 for £2, but i'm not sure.
  • mmmmmmm.... just thinking about mince pies gets my taste buds going
i was just in tescos and they were doing free samples of mince puffs which were buy one get one free i stuffed about four in a napkin and ate them as i shopped! I have got a big jar of mince meat so i could get some frozen pastry and add a bit of rum or some alcohol to the mince meat i suppose. how many calories in mince pies 500?

This was on the christmas cookery program this morning with AWThompson, m&s came second and Asdas were first in their top 5 of mince pies.

I work in a supermarket and I served a rep who comes from a company who makes mince pies, he was buying all different ones and i asked which are the best and he said morrisons the best range and somerfield do lovely ones.
  • For my money, the Aldi Luxury mince pies take some beating. I accidentaly bought the Lidl onces last week and they are nohing like as nice.
