Help - My Mobile Phone Has Been Possessed By Nefarious Spirits!

If you're of a sensitive disposition please don't read any further.

It all started last month when I left my phone charger on holiday. I'd only had the phone a few months so I bought a cheap replacement for the charger from Amazon.
And now weird and unexplained things are happening - it's possessed I tells ya.

I'll charge it up and it will appear to be charging then tell me it's fully charged but then a minute later be uncharged.
If I turn my back on it it will switch between fully charged, discharged and back again.
It will show charged or uncharged depending on whether it's switched on or not and most strangely of all, it will carry on charging itself even when it's been unplugged until I switch it on.

It's like some bad episode of Rentaghost.

Will someone please help me exorcise this cursed mobile?

The dodgy charger might have fried the battery.

Any damage to the charging socket?
Are you sure the replacement charger is correct (may have been pushing too many electronvoltagewrigglies through the flux capacitor)

Once I've managed to [STRIKE]expel the specter[/STRIKE] fully charge the phone it's ok.

I've tried different sockets and the same unearthly things happen.
Could it be the whole National Grid that's infected rather than just my phone?

The charger was certainly sold as the correct sort, and will charge it eventually, and if I ignore the messages and keep charging it by switching the charger on and off the charge will last about a week.
