Air conditioning covered by warranty?
Does anyone know or ever claimed for the air conditioning unit in a toyota car?
I have a 2006 yaris with a 1 year approved used toyota warranty. The a/c makes a loud whistling sound when on which is more apparent when set to cold. The cold air isn't very cold either (which it use to be).
I will be ringing them tomorrow just wondered if anybody been in a similar situation.
Thanks

I have no idea whether your covered or not but I'd be kicking up a fuss if they tried to use the wear and tear argument.
Air con repairs can be very expensive £500 + just for the compressor on mine. I hope some of the regular motoring buffs come on and advise you better. You have been reading.....another magnificent post by garethgas :beer:0 -
Usually i would say no but did you buy the car from a toyota main dealer? They may offer a repair
as a goodwill gesture.
Warranties usually do not cover diagnostic work which is needed to find the faulty part.
IT may need a regas.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
The car should be free from defects and if it was sold as having a/c and it dont work its defective in my mind.
My money on a gas. Its difficult to prove if its on but not cold enough.0 -
Well i booked it in for tomorrow. Not confident about this warranty though. They say they'll look at it and it probably needs servicing. Mentioned something about the gas also. If any one else can help it would be appreciated. Would like to have all the facts so im ready to fight my case if need be.
Looked through warranty and its definately not excluded or part of the wear and tear list. I did buy it from a main toyota dealership.0 -

As it was an Approved Used Toyota, I would imagine that the car was purchased at a Toyota dealership. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
It never rains but it pours...
Took my car in. They waited till i got there to tell me is would be £70 if they need to diagonise it fully if the initial insection did not show up the problem. Now im been told that the pipes are bent.
I had an accident back when the severe weather hit and my car basically skidded downhill and hit a pole. All covered by insurance. What the garage are saying is that these pipe things and other damage was not repaired when they should have been. I know they replaced the radiator and a full new bumpber and both headlights.
So the jist is i now have to contact my insurance company and sort it out with them. Toyota car brought from a Toyota dealership insured by Toyota and fixed by a Toyota garage obviously = TROUBLE.
In hindsight a regas would have been so simple :~0
