cancelling subscription

I subscribed to an online subscription service which I realised straight away was the wrong service. I emailed the company and told them I wish to cancel. I was ignored, I checked my Paypal account (payment method) and found that the payment had been taken twice. I again emailed this time I received a reply denying that two payments were taken and acknowleging my request to cancel. No refund has been made. My credit card company are looking into second charge, but state they can't help with first as it was my error.
Advice please!

Check for cooling off period, how many days you have to cancel. Will be in the T&Cs.

Depending on the type of service...

If you have not accessed the service at all then you may still be covered under the DSR's

What service was it? And have you accessed it in any way?
