Just a few ideas for your 'expensive' items Linda. If you have these shops near you: Lidl roll-on deodorant is absolutely fine (about 80p ish?), Aldi washing up liquid is excellent (Good Housekeeping recommendation) but not sure how price compares with Fairy when on offer, Farmfoods do a Nicky toilet roll (approx £2 for 9 rolls) which is thick and quilted and I'm happy to use instead of Andrex.

Hi, thanks for this, we do have an Aldi which I use every now and again, the only reason I don't is with our particular Aldi the fruit and veg just dosn't last as long as from the other supermarkets. It must be down to the turn over in our particular store. I will certainly try the washing up liquid next time I am there. :money: You can usually get Fairy for £1.00 a bottle when on offer, or the bigger bottles for £1.40 Alot more than the others, I know, but seems to be worth it in the end.

I've heard of Nicky loo rolls, we have a shop in town called Home Depot, which I am sure sells them, so I might try those when I'm next in town.

Right oh. I did the shop on Friday night and I can tell you that the Netto bill came in at £110. That meal plan works. However, I was slightly naughty and spent about another £70 in Tesco on other things that werent on my list strictly, but were needed anyway. I'm planning on growing herbs myself when we move, so scratch a fiver there and I can make yoghurt when I put my mind to it, so scratch more money. I needed mozzarella but I know how to make that too, so basically, if I had pulled my finger out properly, I could have discarded most of the £70 from Tesco.

    Things I learned....

Tesco is cheaper for veg and definitely better quality, but you can't beat Netto for prices of tins. 12 tins of crushed tomatoes were £4. Pasta in bulk is impossible from Netta, but oats are about 60p. Tesco have more types of meat, but Netto is good for cured meat like Bacon etc.
