Can I eat carrot greens?

As the title really, I have just thinned my carrots, okay i planted them too close for this very reason, but can I use the greens?

I haven't really got a proper compost heap I just throw all the greens in the corner under a shrub so would rather eat them if I can?

There appears to be conflicting advice on the tinternet so am wondering what all you lovely people do?

My guinea pigs love them, but I wouldn't eat them.

You can eat the carrot leaves but they aren't to everyones taste. I first found out they were edible because they were served to me in a restaurant salad, they did smell and taste carroty. I tried some from my own plants and they didn't taste as good - quite tough. I think you probably need to pick the leaves when they are really young. But they won't do you any harm.

all edible plants can be eat as youngsters, but many won`t taste great. experiment, I do when I`m sat in the garden, I chew any old stuff that is near, if its too bitter I spit it out.
