Birthday Pressie for OH

Hello friends

It is my yearly challenge to get OH a birthday pressie. He has enough money to get whatever he wants, and is in his 40s, so pretty much has everything he needs.

A friend recommended a Segway adventure. Has anyone tried this? We are based in Lancashire so would like something that can be done in a day. I'm not sure whether to book it for his actual birthday or give him vouchers. He is slightly nonchalant about his birthday so keeps saying he doesn't want to do anything, though most likely we will end up going for a meal with his friends which he will spring on me at the least minute (I know him so well). Would doing the Segway be very tiring?

Thanks for your time.

    Hi

Can't offer any advice about what your suggesting, however I bought my OH a flying lesson for his birthday which he's just done and he really enjoyed it. Spent a happy hour flying over Yorkshire and apart from taking off and landing he did all the actual flying (with guidance from the instructor obviously). Would this be of interest or has he already done it? If so and he liked it then what about a helicopter lesson which is a variation on the theme and a bit more unusual.

Ive done a Segway tour but mine was on holiday in Mexico so no idea about the uk based ones or the cost.
It was enjoyable - bit of a different way to spend a morning on holiday,
The basics of a segway are very easy to grasp really its all weight and balance powered really - shift weight forward to go forward more forward faster you go - lean back to stop , the handle thing is only for direction really...
Pretty easy to pick up and zoom around on.
Id do it again depending on the price
Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?

Hi Turtle, he is already learning to fly so it wouldn't be much of a novelty! :(

phunkles, thanks that sounds like something I could probably do too. Now to find a money saving way of doing it.

    £55 on play for 2 :)
£25 each on Goape tours but none up north

We paid $40 each last year for a morning on one :)
Basically if you can stand up for a period of time you can do one :)

Some new lingerie and a book of 'adult' vouchers...done :)

I've not used a segway before so I can't help on that one I'm afraid.

    Where in Lancs?

Maybe one of those redletter adventure day things, track day in a sports car for example?

what about driving experiences, i know that he's probably got more than enough hours in a car, but a supercar, c'mon miles better than a Segway!!

Re a segway...my 13 year old loved it...but to be honest I have to say its possibly a little sedate for a 40 year old...each to their own though

The first part is getting to know your machine and whilst it can be quite fun trundling around the different terrains..at the end of it thats all you do,,,trundle...theres a little speed once you master it but its not a thrill seeking ride.

If your OH has expressed an interest in it then yep go for it or if hes not really an adrenaline junkie then its great...otherwise he might find it a little tame after a while.
