You can do it using a bluetooth connection, you might be able to do it with a 802.(x) connection too if your phone has that0

If your phone has wifi then you can tether a phone to a tablet and use it as a modem, not sure of the details.
Alternatively, you can get a mifi - a wifi modem that you just put a sim in. Best bet might be ebay, easier to get them unlocked - Carphone Warehouse mifi are locked to 3.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
I have an Iphone 3g and I dont think I can use bluetooth to connect tablet to the iphone.
I saw the word mifi in a few places and didnt know what it meant! Now I do , that looks like it could work but they seem expensive!0 -
I often use my HTC Desire as a WiFi hotspot using the phones 3G to act as a modem connection for my laptop when I am in hotel.
Laptop connects to phone using WiFi
Phone connects to interwibble using 3G.0
