Which banks accept more than 5 money bags?

  • I've never had any problems with NatWest accepting bags of coins in multiples, but I do have a current account with them. I try to be a little sensitive about when I take them in, so not first thing on a Monday morning, at lunchtime or close to closing.
I've always had the option of paying the money into my account or taking the cash as notes. HTH.

  • I regularly deposit coins at my Halifax Branch in Kidderminster, and they told me recently that their limit of 5 bags per day has now been lifted.

dzug1 issue is Halifax are not a 'bank', surely being a trading name of a Scottish clearing bank makes it more of a 'bank' than simply a demutualised building society?

Just because it calls itself a bank doesn't mean it is

OK I'm being a bit picky and maybe over cynical about the word 'bank'

"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less.";)

I took your point, but was questioning why antrobus thought Halifax were worse than a "jumped up building society" because they were a trading name for what many would regard as a "proper" bank.

What constitutes a "bank" is an odd thing, which people get a little precious about. Within context of branch capabilities I believe you are correct in the implication that such rules are a hangover from ex-building society days. So I don't actually disagree with your post. In the "wider sense of the word" I think it's neither here nor there.
Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.

When all is said and done every business has its own set of rules. Some shops for example won't accept £50 notes or Scottish/Irish notes, yet there is nothing wrong with them. It's just their policy and their own choice. The same can be said with banks, if you don't like it then take your coins or business elsewhere.
