Checking who is responsible for replacing a faulty build-in oven?

My newly fitted built-in oven is not working, (the digital clock keeps going to zeros, so the oven won't come on), have managed to use it 3 times since it was fitted on 8th June by the fitter employed by the Kitchen firm. The Flavel oven was ordered by the kitchen firm, not myself. Can anyone tell me who is responsible for getting a new oven fitted? Should the kitchen firm order another oven to install and take away the faulty one, they are saying because it is fitted in, I am responsible to contact the firm myself. The kitchen chap has said he would ring the firm on my behalf, but that this firm will then come and check it out first. The fitter has checked this oven and told me that it definitely is faulty, he fitted it!
I want to be sure of my consumer rights - to insist that the kitchen firm sort it out themselves, or I should do so? I am withholding part of the payment for the completed kitchen, to encourage him to sort it out. I am of the older generation and in a retirement home, so don't want all this hassle, installing the kitchen was enough! Advice please? Thanks in anticipation. Heather

Well if you haven't paid for it you are in a postion of power. They should be fixing it for you. They can call the manufacturer to come and have a look if they want but you'll have to keep at them so it's fixed quickly used 3 times in 18 days isn't much use at all.:footie:

You bought it from the kitchen firm, they're responsible for it. The fitting is irrelevant0
