How much is reasonable to re-point a small semi in Kent?

Hi,
We need to have our pointing re-done. I think its fine in some places but would rather get the lot done as we are starting to have some condensation issues inside and I think some of the bad bits are contributing to this.
Can anyone recommend a brickie in West Kent area and do you know how much this is likely to cost? Just need a ball park so we can start saving really.
The house has the side and rear wall painted so I guess we'd be looking to get these re-painted over the top once the pointing is done.
Any help much appreciated!

No doubt people in the South of England pay more than we do up here , but I would expect a figure of around £17 per square metre for repointing.Forgotten but not gone.0

Thanks very much!
As it turns out the one bloke who came to look at it thinks it is in good repair and just has the odd bit of frost damage in isolated places which can be repaired and re-painted. Great news but I am getting another quote to be certain!
Still having condensation issues and it seems we will be stuck with this due to the age and therefore style of the house not suiting central heating etc etc. I suspected as much but good to have this confirmed.0 -
Would bad pointing cause Condensation?0

I fail to see how the age/style of a building can preclude it being fitted with central heating. It is lack of heating that is going to be the main reason for the condensation.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

Mervyn do these really make a noticeable difference?
I get mold on the walls in my double glazed/central heated semi and a little condensation. I've put it down to lack of lead flushing for the connecting garage port, bad pointing, possibly breach of cavity wall, and the fact we leave it shut up for periods of 2-3 weeks several times a year. The first two are being addressed now I have a bit of dosh (thanks mum).
But I've noticed mold growing in the corner where the house is connected to next door well away from the garageport or the badly pointed southwest wall.
Any thoughts on models? I note there are several types. :beer:I believe past performance is a good guide to future performance :beer:0 -
you may have pourous walls. you could try some thomson water seal on the outside...As is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters.0

I have fitted 3 of the Drimaster 2000 models.
I can asure 100% that they do work & work very well.
Model size might depend on the size of your house I cant remember.........I have had one nearly 15 years in my house which is a large detached 3 bed property.
I fitted it after we had the house double glazed.....all the clothes in the fitted wardrobes were going
mouldy !!!
The first one I fitted cost me over £500 but the price has come down loads since then.

Did a Google for you...........0 -
Tx Mervyn. My house is only two bedroomed so should be more than adequate for the job. As I have so much work going on in September (building, electrical, etc.) I think at less than £400 (incl. fitting) I'll have one fitted and see how it goes.
Must admit never seen such things before but if it does what it says on the tin then I'll get a lot less earache from the misses so £400 well spent
Panchenlama "you may have pourous walls. you could try some thomson water seal on the outside...". You wouldn't believe it
But once the re-pointing is done I might get them to splosh some on.
Robin81 tx to you posting you may have solved my problem :beer:I believe past performance is a good guide to future performance :beer:0
