Why do you think they would assume you got someone else to answer the questions? And how do you know you answered all of them correctly?

well im taking a guess, but tyhe questions werent that hard, read a bit of text and answer the question, what price would joe pay for this and that in the 20% sale, if joe pays £5.50 for 2 items which 2 items could he buy and not get any change.

Maybe im barking up wrong tree but i cant think of any other reason why i was turned down.

I really dont know why I got through and two of my friends didnt. The computer does the shortlisting, so I dont know how much of a margin for error there is. I assume it was on the statements, eg I like it when my work colleagues are my friend, I put down agree strongly for that one.

might have been 1 of them questions instead, i think i chose to strongly disagree with that question as i dont feel a workplace is for relationships eg your there to do a job which your paid for.

The d/w applied before christmas 2010, from memory it was about Sept/Oct, got email straight back stating the dreaded sorry unsuccessful

anyway retried again in May2011, the Asda online system would not let her complete the online assessment, when she queried this, she was informed as she had failed an earlier assessment ( less than 6 month's earlier) she could not reapply

however she is still awaiting a reply to the query that the 6 months is well up, if it is not when will it be, we are still awaiting a reply

strange thing is they replied to why she couldn't take the online assessment, but not when is the 6 months up ??

i find it crazy how they can decide to apply someone based of the answers given to some questions when surely a face to face meet is more beneficial.

    Im just getting slightly frustrated.

I think that prob is where you are going wrong tbh. Asda like to think they are one big family and promote a good working environment between the staff. Putting Strongly Disagree flags you up as a non team player and not what they are after.

I'm not keen on the online tests either as in reality I'm a Strongly disagree for the same reasons you put but you have to give the answers they want rather than what you actually believe. Which makes a mockery of the whole thing anyway as they are just so transparent.....

And I did pass, was selected for assessment day and turned the job down.

Actually just remember I've done it twice, didn't get the job the second time which was a relief as it was a Managerial position and it doesn't seem to matter which role you apply for when you get there they tell you you are there for 'a position' and it might not be the one you originally applied for!

Some businesses have always chosen applicants this way although years ago it was a paper based test. My son applied for a Saturday job at Woolworths years ago and failed the personality test!! Someone said it was probably because he *had* a personality but in truth it was because he answered truthfully instead of thinking about what the answers should be. But then maybe it showed that he didn't have the common sense to give the expected answers. He was 16 then, he's a lot more sensible now!

strongly disagreeing with anything is like saying you are adiment you would not let it happen and you would stand your ground and form opinions on others who do let it happen.

strongly disagree should only be used for ilegal activities. EG
"do you think it is ok to steal from your employer"=strongly disagree

but never put strongly disagree to questions about doing your job. colleagues etc.
eg my work colleaguwes are my friends.

for this put u have no opinion. disagreeing to this makes u look like a social reject. and not a people person. so working with customers would not be advisable.

these questions are not based simply on finding out the answer to that question. behind each question is a points system which rates your personality, integrity, loyalty and other things.

you may think your answering the question to show your arnt going to be a person that talks to friends all day when really the secret behind the question is finding out your honesty and social skills. every business knows people talk. and be friendly.. so there should never be a reason to say u disagree with colleagues being friends.

another prime example. doing my job and doing it well is all i care about.
people put that they strongly agree... in reality with questions like this it shows that you are someone that is not flexible if asked to help others or to do something thats not in your job role.

so think of the deeper meanings behind some questions.

the more successful candidates mainly never strongly agree or disagree as they are niave and have no firm opinion. bosses love people with no opinions as theres no chance of issues with back chat etc.

and bosses can kneed and mold them into retail foot soldiers. but remember to have stron opinions on matters which affect law, health and safety etc.

there is never a right answer as there is always 2 or more reasons behind the question. 1 you gain points for one personality attribute but lose/score no points on another personality attribute. you just have to answer them to get the right balance. hense why niave young people with no opinions who never STRONGLY disagree or agree earn more points then people who always strongly agree/disagree.

strong opinions are not a good characteristic in retail workers basicaly. but if you for instance came across the personality questionair working in a housing benefits office for instance. the opposite is true.

niave workers who without realising the depths of the questions and simply put dont know/no opinion always have more chance of ticking all the boxes then someone who only strongly agrees/disagrees. its about ballancing the personality attributes. its never simply one correct answer. one question affects the results of other questions.. so either think really smart and try working out the double meanings to questions. or think dumb and always put you dont know lol.

theres no answer sheet to reveal the best answer for each questions as they all affect the hidden scores positively/negatively. so no easy cheat im afraid. just try not to be too opinionated. lower strong agree to just agree if you think the last 2 questions had strong answers. and try to form no negative opinions at all unless its law/ health and safety related.

below is a copy of a standard reply from Asda, wish they could get there own house in order, as its well over 6 month's now since initial application.

which I have queried, as to when the six month's will be up, yet I get the same standard email reply :mad::mad:

Thank you for your interest in joining the team at Asda, it’s great that you’re so enthusiastic. However, the results of your first application are still valid, as it’s less than 6 months since you last applied.
All the decisions we make about applications are valid for a full 6 months and so unfortunately, as you were unsuccessful the first time, we can't accept any new applications from you for any other roles within this time.
We really appreciate that you’ve taken the time to send us your details again, and we’re sure your determination will pay off very soon. In the meantime, we wish you the very best for the future.
    Yours sincerely,

    Asda Recruitment Team
