Cheapest option into London by train

Im trying to plan a last minute trip into London tomorrow 21st, and am snowed under by all the fare options and prices.
Im travelling from Letchworth Garden City at around 3pm, into kings cross but need to get to waterloo and so im guessing an all day travel card is going to be best. Trouble is, ill travel into london off-peak, but will be using the underground at peak i think, 4-7pm?
Ill be heading home around midnight.
Are there any good voucher codes for trains, if not what is my cheapest option?
Kind regards
Greg

One day off-peak travel cards are valid during 4-7pm. They are just not valid before 9.30pm Monday - Friday excluding bank holidays.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0
