Please, please help advice needed damp proofing dispute

Hello Moneysavers,

Can anyone please recommend damp/dry rot specialising surveyor in SS9 area? Builder did come out eventially and said that I have dry rot problem in the flat. He did admit that he didn't remove any of the skirting boards, but said that it wasn't included in the price. Well, I know for sure that it had to be done, but have no energy to argue with him.

Not to repeat the same mistake, I want to get surveyor out to tell me exactly what the problem is and how it is to be fixed. I can then get tradesman out and get them to fix dry rot. Ideally, I would like to get surveyor to inspect the work done before I hand the money over.

Your earlier posts do not sound like dry rot, which is a fungus that attacks dry wood. Google and you will find out. It sounds rather like he is giving you blarney. Do make notes of when he visited, and what he said.

I did get good info on dry rot, but not read it yet. Will get surveyor out, as I want it in writing where the moisture is coming from, so that I can fix the right thing and have something to fall back on if tradesmen try to tell me any different.

Thank you for your advice I sure will keep the notes, though don't think I will challenge the previous builder, as I my nervious system is worn out with other staff going on in my life...
