New Desktop Email Problems?

Options
I sent a couple of emails to my sister from my new desktop and she hasn't had them.
Not sure why this could be, I am receiving emails ok, even from my sister, I also sent myself an email from my work address to my home address and vice versa and they all came through ok.
My initial response to my sister was her email was at fault but she says she is getting emails through from other people and as said before is sending emails to me without ant problems.

I'm not a techie , hence I'm confused and wouldn't know where to start resolving this type of issue.

That's why I'm on here asking you clever peeps who have helped me out so many times in the past:D

thanks

Mike

    how are you sending them?

if you're using Outlook, are they till in your Outbox? if so, it sounds like you need the correct SMTP settings for your ISP

What happens when you send to your own address from your own address? If that's OK then it indicates that you can send and receive OK, and the problem is at her end.
Has she checked her spam filter/settings?\
If you can't send to her or yourself, who is your ISP and what SMTP server address is being used?

Do you mean sending an email to myself from exactly the same email address?
    ie. myname@aol.com to myname@aol.com

Yes, exactly. That tests both the ability to send and receive.

I did that and it worked ok so it can't be mine.

Can't think why she isn't receiving emails from now as I have sent her loads of emails from the same address over the last few years but all of a sudden she isn't getting them, since I had the new desktop she hasn't received a single email from me:cool:

Are you sure you are sending to the correct address for her? Easy to have saved it wrongly if you have entered adddresses manually again with a new PC (assuming you are using a desktop email client and not webmail).
If you changed your address at the same time, her PC may be sending it straight to spam, depends how she has set her spam filter.

I have the correct address for her, I even replied to an email she sent to me and she didn't get that.

Which really narrows it down to a problem at her end. The fact that it happened at the same time you changed your PC is therefore coincidental.

very unusual. if it's one of the webmail accounts u are using (such as Live Mail ) then try sending to her from a web browser session (not using Thunderbird). if that goes through then maybe a new install of TB will help -- save (export) all your contacts and emails of course .
