Hi all, im not common around these greener parts of the forum but have been spotted on quite a few other threads over the years so i hope you wont mind my first thread here being a direct request for a help
Im wondering if any kind soul can assist with the Id of a tree growing at the bottom of my garden. I was led to believe its some kind of pear tree, but the fruit is a lot smaller, harder and more bitter than anything ive ever eaten, almost like an olive (i only took a small nibble
!
Ive included a few photos of the leaf, fruit and tree hopefully clear enough to help.
ps any clue whats wrong with some of the leaves and can I spray it with anything to help
many thanks in advance
(pps ill try and get some more photos up of other growing stuff from the garden if youd like:- pots, leeks, strawberries, apple trees, raspberries, cabbages and gooseberries
)

Plum, or at least from the plum family. Will be ready in a few months time.
Enjoy, looks like a good crop there.0 -
morning whitelabel,
looks like a plum tree to me... is there a stone in the middle of the fruit?

I think it looks like a quince. If it is, it will be ready to pick in October.0

hi
thanks for the prompt response.
normally there isnt much fruit at all and anything that is there the wood pigeons soon eat up but this year there seems to be a bumper crop and the pigeons seem ore interested in the lilac tree instead.
Some of the fruit is starting to turn a yellowish lighter colour, but yes they have a stone in the centre.
some also have a sort of growth (see picture) any suggestions on what I can spray this with.
Will they go a kind of yellow colour in full do you think or traditional plum purple ?

There are so many varieties from the plum family, some are ready when yellow, others red, some a deep purple.
Unsure about the marks on the fruit though, just bear in mind own grown isn't always as perfect looking as supermarket stuff, but tastes 10x better.0 -
that stone blows my quince idea!0
