Barclays 'Full Connect' card?

My Barclays branch said I'm not allowed a contactless Debit card today, as im not eligible for a full connect card. I asked them what the difference was and didn't get a proper answer.

They then said I'd have to be 'pre approved' for a card like that, my question to them was how can Barclays let me have an overdraft and a credit card, but not a contactless card, which isn't a form of credit in any way?

Not too pleased with them after this :(

You're not the first to complain about this. It's strange as Barclays are now offering a contactless prepaid mastercard debit card via Orange, which is open to everyone.

A contactless card doesn’t need approval for transactions up to £15.00. So, in theory, you could put through numerous payments and get considerably overdrawn.

Mind you, it isn’t that easy to find an outlet which accepts contactless transaction. I’ve got my contactless (credit) card for over six months and in that time, I could use the contactless facility just once, for a sandwich at the airport.

Use your credit card for contactless payment then. :)

I was going to check that out today and see if the ones here do, the only places I have found in Glasgow thus far are a Subway sandwich shop and all Rowlands Pharmacy's. I know there are a few more but not really enough to make the additon of the contactless feature really as useful as it could be. I am personally looking forward to a complete roll-out of the terminals.

Apparently we are getting them in taxis so we can roll home drunk with no cash
