The big Christmas food shop!

  • I went to Tesco 2 years ago and swore blind, never again

Last year and this year I did all my groceries online and will have them delivered. It would cost me more in petrol anyway to get to Tesco, so for me it's justified.

I love doing my shop for Christmas week, it's always the cheapest shop of the year for me LOL We go to my MIL for Christmas day lunch and tea, she always buys far too much so we end up bringing loads and loads of food back with us so that's boxing day sorted and then we usually go to friends or relatives houses a couple of times between Christmas and new year. Every year I offer to bring something to my MIL's or anyone else who invites us and every year they say no it's ok. I usually end up taking a bottle of wine or box of biccies anyway, but I buy these whenever they are on offer in the run up to Christmas so no extra expense there.

My shopping bill this week was £34 and a lot of that was cleaning stuff/loo roll/ washing powder and shampoo!
  • Spare a thought for us poor soals who work in the supermarkets:eek:

I used to work in one and my Mother still does so I know what you feel like. I remember Christmas being just a nightmare.

Anyway I am going tomorrow, last day my children are at school. I am not taking them but am taking DP so will have to keep an eye on him putting the 'extras' in the trolley.

I was going to shop online but then remembered I had saved stamps up so can't use them online, so I will have to brave it tomorrow.

I did pick up some cheap bits from Lidls today like tinned things etc, my meat is on order at the farm shop, so hopefully won't overspend. I have £100 in stamps and might not even need to spend all that. Going to sort fridge and freezer, do meal plans etc tonight and do a list from that. I don't like to overbuy at Christmas, something I hav ealways doen but then it hits me that the shops are only closed for one day (and the local store is open on Christmas day for an hour) so I don't need to buy loads.
One day I might be more organised...........

I will be braving Mr T's tomorrow morning - as early as i can crawl out of bed basically - im hoping to get there for 8.30am ish (its a 10 minute bus ride from my house) before all the mad rush starts - hopign if i go early enough i can leave Ben with daddy and go adn get it done all in one go - then brign that home by Taxi - (there is no way on gods green earth ill make it to the bus with it all!)

To top that i then ill have to go back into town to get his other sons Xmas presents but im hoping he'll have his butt in gear and most of it can be reserved at Argos tonight (if theres any of it in stock) so its simply a case of pickign it all up and paying for it tomorrow. plus i need to maek a snowman costume by tomorrow night and be home in time to go to work in fancy dress by 5pm!!!!!

    Wish me luck!!!
    Time to find me again

I did it this evening, aisles were busy at 5pm but the tills were empty? No queues I mean, not no staff!:o Got a lovely young girl on the check out who helped me pack & chatted quite happily, I filled up the conveyer belt 3 times over:o:eek::o:eek: Lots of bargians in the fruit & veg & most of it seems good even if the dates aren't, I'm confident it will keep. Spent a total of £122:eek: but with clubcard vouchers & luncheon vouchers from surveys I only actually paid out £35:D BUT! This doesn't include ANY meat, this will be comming from the butcher on Sunday morning...I am not even going to ask him how much that bill is, I'll just hand over my bank card & close me eyes:p:o
