    He said in the bit you quoted 70% discount on flats so it's pretty certain that he's talking about a flat.

    I'm sure if I was offered my house for peanuts I'd take up the offer too, even though I don't agree with the whole right to buy thing. So how deep would your principles go?

    So in your case with 16 years we, the tax-paying people, would be giving you (if my sums are right, 32% plus 1%x14 =>) 46% discount.. blimey, ain't we generous!!! (If a house: If a flat, 70% yes I think.. even more generous.. )

    The OP has a RIGHT to buy his flat, should he so wish. If you aren't happy with that RIGHT (and I would agree with you if you weren't), then surely it is the RIGHT you should have the issue with, not those individuals who wish to exercise it.

    If you have a reasonable income how much have you saved?

    Bear in mind the maintenance issue - is there any work planned in the future? Should there be?
