Small processer v 64 bit

Options
I was hoping someone could help me.
At present my laptop has:

Pentium dual core T4400 processor
3 GB
32 Bit

I am thinking of giving it to my son (12 years old) as I maybe be getting a another one which has:

Intel dual core T3500
3 GB
64 Bit

Which is better a smaller processor but 64 bit or bigger processor but 32 bit.

I use mine for internet surfing, office 2007 professional , and watching a view video clips and the odd bit on BBC i player.

My son will use his for school, with office 2007 professional and a few basic games, he is not a serious gamer.

I hope that makes sense and welcome any opinions/advise.

Its true that they are both 64-bit processors. The 32 and 64 bit will probably be referring to the version of windows they are running. As 64-bit Windows and applications only gain the benefit of 64-bit when the computer has more than 4GB RAM, this won't be of any importance to either of the systems listed here - unless you intend to upgrade the RAM to 8GB and install applications which will make use of it.

As this does not apply to most home users, you should be far more interested in the graphics capability of the computer.

^^don't look at it from that angle. instead, go for 64-bit and perhaps an i3 or i5 processor -- both would meet your requirements and then some. i7 is even more powerful -- when the the rest of the spec. is identical -- but u end up paying a premium somewhat for the i7.
