Cleaning chrome (I think) bars on car

whats best for cleaning and polishing up the chrome side steps on a car? i'm assuming they're chrome, dont really know how to tell to be honest

You can't go far wrong with autosol. I have tried meguiars metal polish which is nice for maintaining a finish but if its correded then autosol will remove it as long as its not to bad.

I have some chrome toilet roll holders that has started to rust as 6 months and autosol made them better than new.

Believe it or not, you can get Chrome Cleaner in Halfords and other motoring suppliers.....

I've used used Autosol and Peek Metal polish - I'd recommend either of them.
