Cleaning chrome (I think) bars on car

whats best for cleaning and polishing up the chrome side steps on a car? i'm assuming they're chrome, dont really know how to tell to be honest

You can't go far wrong with autosol. I have tried meguiars metal polish which is nice for maintaining a finish but if its correded then autosol will remove it as long as its not to bad.
I have some chrome toilet roll holders that has started to rust as 6 months and autosol made them better than new.0 -
Believe it or not, you can get Chrome Cleaner in Halfords and other motoring suppliers.....0
