Stick with SP or move to fixed option?

Just got my letter from Scottish Power about the price rise. Did a search on the comparison sites and to be honest the fixed options were not much different to the new price with Scottish Power.

I could of course switch to a non-fixed option but with I be having to look again as they will probably all follow suit and rise their prices also wont they? Of course every time you switch you also get a final bill which you havent budgeted for I am not sure I want to do that.

I pay DD monthly on the gas but we are in a rented place and the electric is a pay as you go meter so cant get duel fuel deals really.

Wondered what you all thought? Cant decide what to do!

  • It's up to you and will always be a gamble. The way I read it is that all energy suppliers will follow suit. As we are all in a tricky financial times such as insurance etc I believe it will get worse before it all gets better.
I have left SP, simply put this way...I called them, poor service and have moved to OVO, good svc and capped for 1yr so not tied in for too long and £30 exit fee if I do wish to cancel at any point and they are cheaper by £65 pound a yr. Scottish Power are also being looked into by regulator so not all well with them at the mo. I think price is important but so is service too, I've always found their call centres and websites are not the greatest. The BG online billing website is much better.

    Best of luck.

Ps ensure you try all comparison sites such as Which and Energysure/helpline etc and ensure they include VAT!
