Are the newly introduced Pricing in Proportion Prices going to be increased for any of the Size/Weight Brackets0

I think it has all gone up apart from Packet 1001-1250g is currently £4.74 and will be £4.25.0

At work we have a Franking Machine and currently get 1st class for 30p, as you get a reduction for using that. Does it mean in April, we will be paying 32p & that includes our reduction.
Gonna have to report all this to work as we are thinking of ditching royal mail all together. Can you point me in the direction of a link on royal mails Site for these increases?
Price Rises must be to pay for my Dads Pay Rise that he doesnt get :-S0 -

Sorry to hear that you are thinking of ditching RM. As i worker there, I'd like to point out to all that we have alot of complaints about mail never arriving at their destinations. If people were to see how much mail we get that is not addressed correctly ie: this Christmas people are writing so many cards that they put the name on & forget the address. Or not seal items up correctly, we have jewellery, money, cheques, passports & photo's fall out of envelopes, parcels are not packaged up well. We have to remember that parcels are put in bags with others & so may get knocked about. We're not perfect but we do our best, as we are customers too.0 -
Yeah showed you them on tv other day.
Trevor Mcdonald programme didnt do posties any favours bout em pinching stuff, or losing stuff the Size of Strimmers but the thing is, everyone pinches stuff from their workplace and your going to get people taking advantage of situations everywhere.. I sympathise, my dads an honest postie but he does see silly stuff too.
Work wise - to be honest, i dont think its alot to do with Service, is mostly down to Cost. an outside company will collect and frank our mail for 19p for First Class.0 -

Yeah but they won't deliver it to your customers door though.
They 'downstream' to royal mail, who still sort and deliver it.
It'll be a fine 'todo' if all this competition finally breaks the back of the Royal Mail pony and there's nobody left to actually deliver the mail that these outside companies are franking for 19p0 -
Exactly. All competition has done is create a middleman who is making money on doing absolutely nothing at all. I have received mail that is delivered by TNT, DHL etc and all of it has come the at exactly the same time as RM delivery. Looking out the door I have only seen the post man.0

Yep your right, my dads a postie, and they do just give them the end job of delivering no matter if its tnt,dhl or whatever0

Yes, when you use a third party company, they are mainly interested in business post. What they do is sort the letters themselves and make sure that the letters get to the right destination. This is then handled by Royal Mail for the final delivery by their post men as its not feasible for other companies to all have their own posties.
In essense, the other companies like TNT simply swipe off the profitable areas away from Royal Mail.
Standard mail (especially 2nd class) has always been loss-making or close to loss-making. This is changing though. The new packaging requirements help make sending mail more efficient.
I never had a problem with paying the prices of stamps, certainly a few years ago I was a lot more annoyed that the cost of sending an SMS began rising to about 12p, a triple length text message costing the same as snail mail is ridiculous.
Still, Royal Mail should be doing well as should all delivery companies as we currently live in the age of the fat biffa, i.e. people are more likely to surf the internet to do their shopping than go onto the High Street creating a lot of wealth for anyone in the postal business.
Ironically for Royal Mail, by not doing enough about post being lost results in higher profitability as people see the need to pay for services such as Special Delivery.
