He tells it like it is and us Brits don't really like that.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

His script writers tell him to tell you "like it is".
He was taken off air some years ago for telling it like it is, now it strikes me that if someone is saying things you don't like, you'd tell them to say different things..... They tried this and as a result TopGear was axed, presenters moved to channel 5 and up until the new format show started Clarkson sat on his ar5e. I think if a script writer told Clarkson to lie about how crap a car was/wasn't, he'd tell them to shove it where the sun fails to shine.
Edit - addtional info - TG was axed in 2001, the show had lost viewers, IIRC Clarkson had made himself unpopular at that time by slagging off certain makes of vehicle and the people who'd bought them were exceptionally unhappy about it. The new TG format focuses of cars which most people will never own, only ever touching on every day vehicles very briefly, thus doing away with the mass upset/complaints the previous show encountered.
Not to mention of course pressure from the manufacturers.....

In a time where everyone who thinks they're someone, is driving a 3 series..... Not so popular.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Oh no that means I will have to avoid bbc 2 whenever it is on. In all honesty it is very hard to get away from the 3 presenters as there always seems to be shows running featuring them.
If I wanted to watch unfunny comedy I would get out a Jim davidson DVD.
Anyway Top Gear pre-clarkson was waaaaay better.0 -
Thank you
I wish they'd make more per series though!

Watcin some old review videos on youtube;I think Clarkson is owned by most of them companies like ford.
Yea hes critical of cars that dont do well anyhow ,but that not they same;he''ll do any thing to be liked by the public & l've noticed in the last few series that he looks for approvall from the other two.
Good for entertainment watch 5th gear for proper reviews ,where all 4 will get in the car as it been test driven; l dont like only 1 persons review0
