Robin Hood's Bay with a buggy

We're going away a week on Monday and staying at the Haven Primrose Valley site in Filey.
We were thinking of visiting Robin Hood's Bay and Whitby while we are there, but have a 2 year old who will spending a lot of time in a buggy. I haven't been there in a while but remember it being quite hilly - is it do-able do you think?
Thanks in advance!

it's very hilly! you must be fit to attempt with a buggy, although the main road through would be ok I think some of the back streets have steps0

Whitby will be fine just don't try the 199 steps to the Abbey! Most of the town and roads to the beaches are ok. Robin Hoods Bay is very steep but do able in stages. Here is a link to a live web cam of Whitby http://www.fuscowhitby.com/WebcamSet.html .

i think it would be easier without the buggy, but still enjoyable with the buggy there would just be a few bits you might have to miss out. i think you need to be fit. i remember going with the school and our teacher pushed a wheelchair down there. i seem to remember he had to walk backwards, but he made it, and i think on the way up we were all pushing, lol.0

I regularly go on holiday to this area, we use a backpack for the little ones in both RHB and Whitby. Sorry, but I wouldn't take a buggy to RHB, it's just too steep and bumpy. Whitby is doable for most of the town bar the Abbey, but you'll earn you fish and chips (best one is the Magpie on Whitby docks, the wee one in RHB is pretty good as well :-)
