kitchen worktop oil.

Options
I have recently had an oak worktop put in my kitchen. A friend gave me a tin of leftover Ronseal Anti-Bacteria Worktop Oil which I used on the worktop. Its rather pricey and I was thinking of using linseed oil instead. Can I apply the linseed oil on my worktop which has been oiled with this Ronseal oil? Someone said that the interaction between these two oils may leave unsightly marks on it. I would very much appreciate your advice on this.

Test on an inconspicuous part first. Have you got any offcuts you can try the combination on?

  • Well, that would be a sensible thing to do. I was hoping someone might have an answer ready. Ok I shall try that & see what happens. I hope notjing happens.

We always use Danish Oil on ours. They are 23 years old now, and still come up like new after sanding and treating.
  • I've applied some linseed oil on the off cut oak piece which was previously oiled with Ronseal. I must say the linseed oil bit has brought up the grain of the oak better than the Ronseal bit. So far no ugly stains on the worktop. The linseed oil did take a lot longer to dry but that was to be expected.
