Daughters off to uni but Council tax question?

Options
Hi

I live alone with my 2 daughters. The 19 year old is off to uni in September and the eldest (23) is going back to uni to do a top up on her existing degree (don't really understand it, she graduated couple of years ago doing education studies with physocology - but needs to do another year on the phsycology bit to make it a full degree, as that one was ahalf or something - she wants to do her masters in years to come!!).

They were both due to go last year but deferred - so luckily cheaper costs for them in tuition fees! My eldest is having to paying her own tuition fees as she is returning. I can't afford to give them any money.

My eldest will be giving up her job as she cannot do both but hopes to get a part time job (which she will need to run her car to get to uni and live etc) and she will be living with me as its not far from home.

The question is council tax. I pay full council tax at the moment as they are both over 18 and working but can i get a reduction once both studying? Or because my elder daughter is returning to education and (hopefully) working part time will that not count?

many thanks - wasn't sure where to post this, felt sure there was a council tax forum but can't find it!!!
Aim to win in 2013 - a holiday somewhere nice, New York break, treats for family & friends & some cash would be lovely!!!

If both your daughters are full time students, then if you are the only other adult person living there you will get the single person discount. This will give you 25% off you council tax bill.

Make sure you inform the correct department that your 2 daughters are students and therefore not liable for council tax.

I agree with the above but if your eldest only did a Foundation degree and is now doing the top up to the full academic degree, she shouldn't have to pay fees.
