E-on Pre-pay Electric meter

I seem to be doing nothing but asking for help on these forums recently, but I'm really confused about something and hoping one of you can help?

We have a pre-pay electric meter, run by E-on, it started beeping at us this morning as it only had 47p left on it. My other half put the emergency on until I go out to the shop later, and it's put £8 on as emergency instead of the usual £5.

It's left be a bit confused as I thought an engineer had to come out to change the meter for things like that? Does anyone know of E-on changing the emergency amount of credit or is it a one off possible error? Won't make too much difference to us as we rarely use more than £2/3 of it anyway but it's good to know where we stand (especially as we have hardly any money till tuesday that £8 could last us)

    Hi LittleMissMPB

The amount of Emergency Credit on electric key meters differs depending on the area and the provider.

£5 is fairly common although we do increase this to £8 for customers who need to travel further to a shop.

Electric key meters can be adjusted remotely by sending an electronic message to the meter. Therefore, an engineer doesn't need to call to change the settings.

Hope this helps LittleMissMPB. Give me a shout if you need any more advice as happy to help.
