Dubrovnik recommendations please

Single traveller to Dubrovnik, looking for decent but not too expensive central hotel September please. Any recommendations re hotel and also travel to other areas of Croatia from Dubrovnik would be appreciated.

There arent many hotels within the old city walls and those that are, are expensive,. There are some just outside the city walls however i stayed on the Lapad peninsula, which is where there are more hotels.

It does seem extremely expensive there - I have been very surprised at the prices being quoted.

I rented a small room with a kitchenette on the lapad peninulasa and that was not exactly cheap, i wouldnt worry about staying in the area though as its not a massive walk into the old town and there are buses plus the area has bars, restaurants and shops of its own.
