Take a package holiday without the flights?

I have seen a package holiday with Thomson Lakes. The price is good and it has the dates and hotel I want, but the flight is 7am from Gatwick. I know I can get cheap easyjet flights from Luton which would be cheaper as it means I don't need to stay overnight at Gatwick airport.
Would I be able to book the holiday but book my own flights?I can't find the hotel any cheaper than the Thomson package price, so booking the hotel separately would be even more expensive.

Usually if you don't take the outbound flight the remainder of the contract is cancelled.
Best to ask the TA though.0 -
Is the hotel available on http://www.thomson.co.uk/hotels.html or http://www.hotelopia.com/Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Interesting comment there Mr Wang...........

In the above thread, all you seem to do is slag us TA's off, calling us rip off merchants, con artists, and no good for anything apart from last minute dodgy deals.
Now may i suggest you take a very long walk off a very short pier. However please do not ask a travel agent for a suggestion as which pier to use, as we will only give you (according to you) dodgy advice, and probably rip you off in the process..................
BTW Silvercar, which hotel / dates are you interested in, and what is the price coming up at (as a full package).

Heh,heh, heh - nice piece of work there HXDave.
While we're on - any decent offers in the sun for Boxing Day onwards this year ? Not the Canaries or Egypt.
Thanks.0 -
Nobjocki,
What sort of places are you looking for? for wintersun, they are really the better places without travelling too far. Cyprus should be just ok, same maybe with Tunisia - which has had some great prices this year. Southern spain had tended to be very hit & miss at that time of year when i've had people there.
Plus it's still miles ahead, so the operators have got plenty of time to sell, and it's a popular time, so not always gauranteed 'bargains'. Best just to keep your eyes open, and if you see something you like, book it.

I'm thinking more Caribbean or long-haul for about 10 days.
Did Thailand last year independently but the family want a beach holiday without the rucksacks.
Budget not a problem but, of course, like everyone I'm looking for a good price.
Early days I know.0 -
Nobjocki, yes - early days, however with something like the caribbean & long haul, flight prices drop 25/12, so makes travelling 26 & 27 dec cheaper, and therefore more attractive.
Maybe see if delwynsdeals comes on and see's your post. AFAIK he works for virgin holidays, and might have some good advice for you re caribbean.

It is no longer a package holiday.
Can you find you find the hotel on tripadvisor website or hotels.comUK.
Hotels.com take your card number but you pay the hotel when you get there.
You can cancel at short notice.
The comfirmation email is written in English and the native language.
How far is the hotel from the airport? You will need to account for transfer costs.

Dates are not available on hotels.com
Expedia has the hotel alone at £500 more than we would be paying for the package with Thomson.
