Hi,

I have a Dell laptop which is 15 momnths old. My password for some reason no longer was recognised. I know I was puttin g the correct one in because the password prompt showed me so.

I now no longer get prompted for a password, it now goes into some knid of set up mode prompting me for an authentication code. My laptoip is rendered useless unless someone can advise me please. All the Dell support linse I found charge 10p a minute and we all know these issues can soon become 30 ,ims.

Any free phone dell numbers out there or can somebody tell me what to do ?

Thanks

    Ok, Sorry.

the message I get is right from power on in a DOSS type screen is "This computer System, #22VNRJ1-595B, is protected by a password authentication system. You cannot access the data on this computer without the correct password.

Please type in the system or admin password."

Thanks for your help. its appreciated.

wow , that was amazing. How did you do that?

The problem I have now is that it does not recognise my user profile password. It prompts me a reminder but I know what the password is but when I have entered it it says the user profile service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

    Any ideas?

    Russ Jk,

You needn't worry. I bought this laptop from carphone warehouse 15 months ago just before windows 7 came out and so got it much cheaper.

I have my mobile with them and so I get the offers by text.

I am just trying to re assure you, and I understand your stance but also find it dissapointing that you go on air to accuse and notr message me personnally to air your concerns.

Do you really think somebody would go an obscure route such as MSE to find out about such an issue. Think about it, a thief would very unlikely go on a penny pinching web sitre would they. Also look at my posts. I even have some at the time of when I was looking for a laptop.

I still need help with the password and I hope you will still help.

    Thanks.
