Cavity Wall Insulation

Options
Hi,
We're looking to get cavity wall insulation (4 bed detached).

I have been contacted by Domestic and General Insulation (DGI) and have been recommended EnergyCareUK by a neighbour. Both offer various grant schemes.

I am interested in knowing if anyone has used either of these companies and can additionally recommend any others, not really thinking about price, but more about whether they have done a proper job!

Thanks in advance. :)

Just how can you tell if they have done a proper job. The only thing that you can see is the filled up holes through which the insulation was inserted. The only thing you can do is to have the work done by a reputable company and hope that they keep up to their normal standard.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

My company didn'teven do it, I found out when I knocked some bricks out to fit a window. They were very apologewtic and came back, they were from the Reading area.

Jeff is very much in the minority in the opinion he gives, either he is a genius who knows more that thousands of other professionals, or he's a bodger trying to sell papers/his book.

The general opinion is that as long as its fitted correctly then you won't have a problem.

the general opinion is, but worth noting jeffs thoughts in certain places, i know someone that paid to get it done and had no end of problems with damp, took it out and all was fine again - cavities are there for a reason, it's not like they just decided to leave a big gap between leafs by mistake!

    Whose general opinion?

That'll be why there are so many cavity wall insulation removal companys then?

The net is full of disaster stories. Another ill conceived government initative. Someone with a vested interest probably told 'em it was a good idea, and would improve British housing stock, or am I just an old cynic . . .

Oh, and Jeff isn't the only one.
