How do I escape from Talk Talk!

I currently have the whole phone and broadband thing with Talk Talk, I want to move to Orange because a) they're cheaper, and b) Talk Talk are the very definition of evil and rubbish!

But, Orange say I need a BT line, so can someone tell me in words of one syllable or less how I can escape from them and move to Orange without too much hassle, spending a fortune, losing broadband, or getting locked into a contract that costs me much more than I'm paying now!

We're looking into it but it's quite confusing!

According to this http://www.homephonechoices.co.uk/orange-undercuts-bt-with-landline-installation-110211.html switching from Talk Talk LLU should not be a problem any longer.

Careful nearly all companies have a contract usually 12 months, most have rolling contracts like BT. If you do nothing a new contract starts annually.

Enquire when your contract ends and give advanced notification of leaving.
If by some chance you are out of contract, they should issue you with a MAC code within a certain time limit. ie O2 within 3 mins.

Pay cheap budget prices, expect poor performance, they are all the same.

I have been with Tiscali/TalkTalk for the last couple of years and well out of their 12-month contract.
Few days ago, I contacted Primus and Plusnet. Both said that they can switch me from TalkTalk.
However, one of them said that there will be a break of 2 weeks in the BB service. But phone will work.

Primus and Plusnet are both cheaper then TalkTalk. Plusnet don't tie you down with annual contracts.
Don't know much about these companies; so I am searching MSE for opinions before switching.

TT to Orange. The words 'frying pan' and 'fire come to mind...
Orange are even lower rated than TT in all the ISP consumer surveys.
