Any ideas on selling a flute?

Hi, I sell the odd thing on ebay here and there like gig tickets and dresses, but I really need to sell a flute and im not sure whether ebay would be the best place as its quite an expensive flute... If anyone has any ideas that could help me sell this without losing out too much money (i originally bought it for £800 but dont expect to make anywhere near that much) I would be really greatfull!
Thanks!
Thanks!

Firstly, we don't like adverts on here however subtle they are.
Secondly, and this is important. You urgently need to get that listing sorted out before you either get it pulled by ebay or scammed.
You can't say there might be a BIN price, if you don't list with one then you don't have one and ebay will see that as an offer to deal outside of ebay.
More importantly you must stop selling until you know how to protect yourself, you are basically putting "please scam me " across your auction. All sellers must take paypal, so you are OK there, but you are offering collection on an £800 item....please read about the paypal on collection scam here:

Then your postage, you MUST understand the Royal Mail limitations and your responsibilities. Recorded is not sufficient for this item as you would only be insuring it for £46.

A music shop isn't a bad idea as they will recognise the value of it.

I think you will do well with it in a music shop especially in Leeds. you will never get the money for it on ebay. I find it quite frightening how people jump on posters on here sometimes. I think it is possible to give people advice without that. hope you get on ok with the flute
Would you rather the OP was conned out of £400?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. And you will find soolin takes the exact same line when others say it's full of scammers. There are a few though, and certain types of listings, which expose the seller to risk, attracts them
I have never been burgled, I still lock my doors though and windows though. Nothing wrong with sensible precautions.I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0 -
try selling it in northern ireland, plenty of flutes will be getting played there in july0

Misty, that is truly awful and my genuine sympathies go out to you. I can guarantee if you post a thread posters will do their best to help you with the ebay experience.
I appreciate it looks like an attack, but it's incredibly frustrating to have a legitimate complaint about sellers telling lies (which is what this all started over), then for someone to come in out of the blue, ignore the points, and rant at everyone for being impatient etc, while completely missing the point. Then they start crying when it's pointed out to them that they are wrong, so they accuse people of bullying instead.
Anyway, you didn't come here for a lesson in forum politics, so please, start a new thread and I promise we'll do what we can to help you.I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0 -
I suppose by very definition, arguing on the internet is pointless. People are just defending themselves, or their e-personas, against unfounded accusations, then it escalates from there.
But you're right, it's trivial compared to troubles like yours. Just rest assured people will do what they can to keep you on the right track ebay-wiseI'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0 -
i would actually like to know how you have all seen the posters listing . Also you are all a bit defensive are you not. I am allowed my opinion. Just because people dont know something and are asking for advice doent automatically make your soo superior to me or anyone else. I suppose I have the right to read what I like into her posts. Does she need the rest of you rushing to her defence I really am not attacking her.
If you'd read the posts fully, you'd have worked out that the OP must have originally put a link in her post to her ebay item and then has subsequently edited her first post removing the link.
Anyway, as usual, Soo has been extremely constructive in her comments. Of course you're entitled to your opinions, but please read things properly before jumping in and posting!0
