XP Antispyware 2012

Hi,

Looking for some advice from some more technically minded people!

I have an Acer netbook with standard Virgin Media security. Yesterday I lost my internet (IE) connection and got loads of error messages from XP Antispyware 2012 saying I have trojan's and a million other things.

It pretty much locked down my pc and freaked me out. Having googled it on my phone I read that I did not have all these identity theft trojan worm things and it was a com.

I have this afternoon done a system restore to a date last week and it now works.

What else do I need to do? What if any security package/protection should I buy??

Any help appreciated!

Thanks.
