Up until yesterday I used Opera's email client for my Yahoo emails. It now appears Yahoo have made this impossible......

I like having getting my emails in the browser so could someone tell me what options I have if I want to keep my Yahoo email address. I don't like IE and Firefox is becoming very bloated.

Have you looked into 'Thunderbird'?
Its a very good free email client.0 -
I'm using Thunderbird and Yahoo doesn't seem to have been working for a while. I barely use the account, but you've encouraged me to look into it. This fixed it:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/uk/yahoo/mail/ymail/mailplus/pop/pop-52.html
The only changes I made were to change the server names from:
1/ pop.mail.yahoo.com to plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
2/ smtp.mail.yahoo.com to plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Thunderbird would connect to Yahoo, nothing would happen for perhaps a minute, and it would then move onto the next account without displaying an error message.0 -
Many thanks GeoffX.
I got Opera working by changing to plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com using Port 110 and unticking TLS (Secure connection). The only reason I unticked TLS was because I got a message saying I could not use TLS on that server.
Unfortunately a few minutes after downloading all my messages I then got a message saying problem logging on go to Yahoo.co.uk so I have now downloaded Thunderbird.
The only way I could get Thunderbird working properly was to use plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com but only smtp.mail.yahoo.com
for the outgoing server. Methinks Yahoo are trying to make it impossible for people to use email clients!!0
