My "E" is playing up :)

Hi Guys
Have a Dell Inspiron 15r Laptop and the "e" key is very intermittent I have to be quite heavy to get it to work :( can I just pop the key off to see what is wrong or is it best to take it back to the shop??
Thanks
Niki

Funny you say that, i've always had a problem with the 'e' on my Compaq laptop.
You can pop the keys off without causing any damage but it depends how old your laptop is. If it's fairly new then you might want to take it back but if you've had it a while it'll be cheaper to get a new keyboard.

only got it last year so I might just take it back - just wanted to know if it was an easy fix DIY or not.

yep, keys can be removed fairly easily; sometimes a bit of detritus fills the key placer; if it is under warranty and u are worried about causing damage then yes, get them to fix it .

I'd definitely get them to fix it under warranty rather than lifting up the key, otherwise they might say you caused the damage and charge for the repair.

if you have a can of clean compressed air i'd give it a spray to shift any possible rubbish under there. if not, off to the shop with it.
