I need a new printer. (I don't really print many colour photos) but I do scan most things in. Some stuff is in French and I would love to be able to scan in and translate .... particularly if I could still hold most of the original lay out. Is this possible and if so ..... where in the price range!!?

Last time I looked, Lexmark bundled ABBYY Finereader and Canon used OmniPage with their scanners and printer/scanners.
Both seem to work well, but I would not recommend Lexmark products because their inks are horribly expensive and their entry-level printers are not well made.
Sorry - don't know if either are shipped with French language support.0 -
Try scanning with an OCR package, then use Word with the language option set to French to edit. I have had both Cannon and Lexmark and found the Lexmark OCR package much easier to use than the Cannon.0

I have only ever had HP printers and I seem to recall (years ago) they had OCR software on an Officejet PRO model but the photosmart that I have had for the last few printers has not had OCR software,0
