Rushing water noise driving us mad

Hi

We have a rushing water sound coming from our rising main when the cold water tank in the loft is filling up.

We have fitted a PRV (Pressure Reducing Valve) to the rising main near the stop !!!! and have fitted a high pressure float valve in the cold water tank, BUT we still get the noise whenever the tank fills.

Has anyone got any ideas of what else we can do??

insulate around it? you're probably always going to here it filling to some extent

adding a silencer pipe sometimes works. as above.

beware
that they are maybe "not allowed" in some water board areas.

ps
you can fit a NRV if you are worried about back flow.


or try a torbeck valve. like the fluidmaster.

ormus thanks for the info, can the torbeck valve be fitted to a cold water tank with mains pressure?? We have one fitted in our toilet - but the cistern water comes from the cold water tank in the loft.

Ormus got it all installled this weekend and low and behold all sorted and now have a quiet water supply Thank you x
