Places to visit with kids around Wemyss Bay area

Kids loved our Scotland holiday so much last year that we've decided to go back there again this summer. We stayed in Blairgowrie area last year, visiting the Firth of Clyde area for the last few days of our holiday. The only downside to staying in a lodge on a quiet site was that there was no swimming pool for the kids. This year they want to go somewhere where they can swim whenever they want. Have been looking at caravan parks but really want somewhere quiet and in a lovely location as we like to spend our days out and exploring. We're now thinking about booking Weymss Bay as it looks like it will combine these things for us.
Any recommendations for nice places to visit around this area that will keep the kids entertained? Last few days we're going to head over to Glenrothes area (Holiday Inn 241) so that we can do Falkland Palace and Culross and maybe Edinburgh on the way home.

A 20/30 min drive to the outskirts of Glasgow will take you to Xscape, which has a climbing wall, ski slope, bowling, cinema, eating places and a zap zone type place amongst other things. It is located just by Renfrew and is next door to Braehead shopping centre and Ikea.
This has to be the least moneysaving post ever!! lol

ther ferry to bute and millport (from largs). would also agree with kelburn as an option (if weather good). spend the day in largs, its a cracking seaside town with a great walk and view. if you want something a bit special, try the fish tea at nardinis in largs, its £7.95 between 6-8pm.0

Visit Glasgow. New transport museum just opened. Called Riverside Museum. Fab day out. You can park at Art Galleries, spend a few hours there, then walk over to new museum.
It is free! Parking is £1 for 4hrs.
Also at Riverside Museum they have speedboat ride - although it's not a speedboat but a HUGE orange dingy thing. Anyway 40min trip for £6 per kid £10 for adults. I put my two kids on and they had a ball. BEST £12 i'VE EVER SPENT!
If your going to Kelburn Country Park you'll need midgy spray otherwise you'll be eaten alive!
Also East Kilbride - Calderglen Country Park - again free - they have a mini zoo, beautiful parks & walks and a huge playarea for the kids.0 -
Thanks everyone, some really good ideas there for me :j0

I would second Milllport - ferry then bus to cycle hire place in Milllport town and then cycle to Fintry bay which is lovely for swimming. (Cycling is dead easy, very flat and hardly any cars.)
Vikingar is fab. It looks like Blackshaw Farm has reopened and we had some great days there when my kids were younger. The Magnum Centre at Irvine has a fabulous pool. Ayr has a nice beach. playground and bowling abbey. Culzean Castle is a good day out.
Have a brilliant time!0
