MBNA Amex and Visa

Hi all,
I currently have the MBNA Amex cashback card, and I'd like to supplement this with their Visa cashback card too so I can use that in places where Amex isn't accepted. What is the likelihood of them giving me a second card? Was thinking of calling them and offering to split my current Amex limit (£3,500) over the two cards. But I don't want to get a search on my credit file for no reason if MBNA will automatically refuse my app because I already have a CC with them.
My income is currently £32k and I've always paid off CCs in full.

MBNA will often split your limit across more than one card. They will usually raise one and lower another if you ask. It seems to be a standard way for them to operate. Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

They've done exactly that for me in the past. Given me a second card, and asked how I wanted the limits split between them. Awfully nice folkYou're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0

If anyone reads this and is wondering - they did approve me for the Visa card. I offered to move £1000 of my £3500 over to the Visa card, but got the impression that they wouldn't be picky what the limits were as long as it didn't increase their total exposure.0

I had the Visa card and applied for the Amex lately. They accepted me and I did not have to split my available limit, the new limit on the Amex was exactly the same as the limit I have on the Visa card.
So basically my limit has doubled. Don't know if this was coincidence though.0
