ideas to find old friend

Options
I have been trying to trace an old friend from the mid 70's. I have tried all the usual suspects, facebook, friends re-united. I have posted on a manchester forum as he was from Moston in Manchester, but didn't even get a reply. I have toyed with Man Utd forums as he was an avid fan, but that seems a bit needle in a haystack. Is there anywhere on MSE where you can post to find someone?
Just wondered if anyone has any ideas what I can do next? Thanks.

Thanks, have tried it. Unfortunately I don't know where they live now, just that they lived in Moston when I knew them. Was hoping there would be a Moston forum or something.

Pretend you've won the lottery.. you'll find him and loads of other old friends.

Sometimes a simple Google will through up some results.

How old were they in the mid seventies? What school did they go to? What street did they live on?

Tons of Mancs on here, someone might know him!

They would be around 54 now, could be 55. Name is Pete(r) Armstrong. Sorry no street name or school but best friend was Dave from Blakeley? And another was Chris who worked at the Midland Hotel? I think as a chef? All mad Man U supporters. Sorry for the vagueness but racking my brains for anything that may help. Had a blue ford escort lol, 70's boy racer car !!! Not too up on Manchester areas as not from there as you might guess.

If you don't mind going public, local papers love this sort of story.

you can filter things a bit on facebook to help narrow down the number of "hits"

try adding in the midland hotel, or man u fan pages to see if he pops up on them when you search.

Do you happen to know what line of work he went into, or even was interested in going into?

If you know his friends surnames might be worth trying to find them on Facebook and seeing if they are still in touch with him, or even family members? Maybe births/ marriages/ deaths as he may have got married/ had a baby? Good luck!

Have you tried Linkedin, seem to be quite a few people with that name from Manchester listed.
