Norton Internet Security 2001

Question for anyone who can help..

I have norton antivirus and firewall at moment but the subscription is due for renewal. Ive just received an email offering me the chance to purchase norton internet security 2001 edition for £2.99 (from https://www.savapoint.com). Obviously its 4 years old but my question are....

Will this give me a a years subscription to antivirus updates etc? and...

Will it be as effective as newer editions?

I am working on the theory that it would download all virus updates since 2001.
Am i here to save money or spend money......hmmmmm

    Question 1: Yes

Question 2: Possible if it updates the software

There could be a problem however, you state you are already running Nortons, but do not state what version. Nortons may not allow you to instal an older version when you have a newer version (maybe able to get around this if you fully uninstal newer version)

There are free virus software and firewalls out there which people will say are better than Nortons (and not so memory intensive). the choice ultimately is yours

  • if i was you i would rid yourself of norton av, and get yourself a FREE av called avast which is much better. i was using norton 2004 for a whole year and regularly scanned my comp, and never did it come up with any viruses. when the free subsription expired i tried avg and avast.

avg was ok but again found no viruses, and used a lot of resources.

next was avast the scan showed 19 virusues which the other two did not even pick up. it claims to pick up 100% of viruses.

Also IE now around 20% quicker, try it, but no need to pay a penny to these robbers who ask for money , then dont even do the job they are paid for. now been using for two weeks, its great and FREE.
