Help!! Sharps

Options
Hi all, have just read Sharps Bedrooms going into administration...we have had the delivery of the materials to build our bedroom and work was due to commence next week, any ideas where we stand? The purchase is funded by Sharps interest free credit which is via Hitachi? will we still be liable for these payments if our bedroom isn't installed? :(

Ouch! You may be in trouble here, creditors are in a terrible position when it comes to administration. Write to the administrators as a matter of priority, sadly I don't think your legal position is strong but will depend on the effective date of the agreement I expect - which one would hope would be the delivery date (which may or not still happen)

Yes you'll need to pay the finance, but the finance co will also be responsible for ensuring that the stuff gets installed. Probably by refunding the amount it will cost to get someone else to fit. Be wary of going down this route though- make sure you have all the right bits as getting replacements might be a !!!!!! if something is missing or damaged.

It's good that you have a finance agreeement OP.

Prepare your self by reading about Section 75 refunds.

    Maybe start here.

Note that section 75 isn't just about credit cards...
Does it apply to other credit?
While the bulk of claims are made to credit card providers, the law also applies to other types of credit agreement.

But read the whole article to be sure that it fits in your case.

From what I hear, the company is going to be split up. They are looking at keeping Sharpes and Kitchens Direct running as normal. It's the Moben and Dolphin customers who should be more concerned...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Judging by the reviews, they'd have had concerns anyway, even if the supply and fitting had gone ahead.

Thanks for the help everyone:A , it looks like we may be lucky as Sharps have advised they are being taken over so it should be fitted as planned. It's going to be a long weekend waiting to find out though.
