Hotpoint - Help Please

Hi all,

just wanted to know where i stand with this problem:

so here we go:

7th June fridge freezer (frost free) decides to stop working, all food totally knackard!
8th June rang hotpoint to come out and fix
10th june hotpoint arrives and said it needs a new compressor fitting but the man doesnt carry these on his van so will need to order it and come back
17th June man comes back and fits compressor said to leave it for 24 hours before going shopping to make sure its working ok as frost free ones have a mind of there own
18th june starts to get cold but warms back up again so rang hotpoint
22nd June hotpoint come out again but send an electrical man and apparently I need a POD man (whatever he is)
23rd june (today) hadnt heard anyhting about the POD man appt so i ring hotpoint again and was told: We do not have a POD man in this region so are trying to find one and will contact you by the end of tomorrow (24th).

My questions are:
how can it take this long to fix a fridge freezer with this company? and seen as though they have already changed the compressor and its still not working surely it would be cheaper for them to just send me out a new fridge (i have cover that if it is non fixable i will get a new one) with the cost it is going to cost them for fixing???

also i have told them i need this working ASAP as i have a 6 year old and a 2 Year old and having a fridge is not acceptable as it is costing to much money to go to the local shop every day for food!

thanks for reading!

I would suggest you ring them up and say just that.

Politey explain that it's now been 2 weeks since your item broke and the matter is still ongoing and your struggling to supply food to your children (I assume you don't have a car and it's not at all practical for you to be dragging them to the shops everyday which i'm also guessing is a while away;))

See if you can get a little sypathy to speed up the process is my best bet at the moment.
I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!

OP, how old is the thing?

Who sold it to you, and have you spoken to them yet?

    What have Kays said?
  • I have one the same , the freezer is OK but the fridge start to get warm. It appears there is a known fault with these freezers as the space in between the panels at the back of the freezer where the pipes live ices up (its supposed to be frost free) and cool air stops transferring to the top section. I have cured this by removing the panels and using a hair dryer to clear the ice and it is OK for a while. Now it is starting to require de-icing about once every three weeks. We went to Comet where it was purchased 3 years ago and they said they would turn out Hotpoint but it would cost me. It was purchase 3 years ago, do I have any rights? as to me a freezer should last longer than this in actual fact older less expensive ones had lasted a lot longer than this piece of....well you can imagine the rest.
