If you have trouble installing it, e.g. to a weird error, then just change the name of it either as you download it again or from the one you already downloaded.

If you have trouble updating the definitions, then copy the updated rules file from mine:
http://www.users.on.net/~russ/rules.ref

and put them in either location depending on your version of Windows:

Vista/Windows 7:
C:\Users\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref

Windows XP:

It IS free for the on-demand scanner. You only pay for the realtime guard (which is very effective by the way).

My head is spinning, I am so not techy minded.

I did click on it after 11.45 and a box appeared with a prompt to pay and a box within it saying to pick a file but there are none to pick. They faq's says there is no search facility. I have just had another look and further down the page there is a free download box oops, sorry.
