i don't 'understand' ebayers sometimes

Sadly not, certain things will generate a bidding frenzy some will go for starting price and the majority somewhere in between. I've been in and around the auction business for over 20 years and still get surprised at what does and doesn't do well in a sale.
As regards buy it now vs auction it is a similarly impossible thing to judge, sometimes an auction won't sell and a buy it now will for the same item (the auction having a lower start). It depends on buyers, some are happy to wait and see what an auction brings, others want it now.
I'm not sure why, but I get the impression that people on this board generally prefer auctions to fixed price both as buyers and sellers, where as I understand it Ebay is now 60/40 in favour of fixed price auctions.
I think the choice of BINs V auctions depends on the item. I sell mainly collectables and there is no real set in stone price for them, it all depends on whether more than one collector wants my piece badly enough.
I never risk a 99p start unless I am happy for it to go at that but tend to start at the lowest realistic price I will accept. Sometimes stuff goe son first bid, and I'm happy, but sometimes it goes for silly money, even though my research suggests my start price was fair.
It is a thrill though to see an item that I believe to be worth £2 end up going for £40!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. When I first started buying on ebay, I was often bidding against the same people on different listings, so it got to the point where we wouldn't let the other win, great for the seller. Not so good for me with some of the crap I paid well over the odds for.:rotfl::www: :: MFi3 ::

so this person clearly has no intention of paying. they've been on ebay leaving feedback for people up until yesterday evening and have ignored an invoice, a message asking if there's a problem and now they're ignoring my npb case.
makes me mad. don't bloody bid if you've no intention of paying!helpful tips

I am a serial Ebay buyer ..... and there is definitely something psychologically exciting about the auction
....
That's the chase!! Winning the item is just a bonus. If I wanted to spend £10 on gloves I'd go to a shop ... but if I can fight someone else for them, then I don't mind spending a bit more ... It's the modern hunter-gatherer!
Yeah, I was wondering if there is an ebayers anonymous or something. Became aware that I should start looking for some kind of 12 step programme when in the final moments of a auction I was outbid and my real life internal dialogue as I scrambled to increase my bid was:
"f**k you, you're not having it!"0 -
it must be just me then... when I run actions they end up selling for (or near) the bottom price, with one or two bidders. Except a couple of items then went for silly amounts, but overall not very successful... (ending on Sunday eve, good pics/description etc....)0

Otherwise it's media stuff that I mostly sell and those do much better as BINs so people can watch them or read them immediately."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Personally I get more selling with BIN's, I genrally look at what items end at and price just above with BIN and usually sell well, with that I mainly sell video games.
Personally as a buyer its almost exclusively BIN's now, find it, sort it by cheapest + postage and either buy or don't.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017
