Unemployment claim dispute

Hope someone can give me some advice with this problem. I have successfully claimed on my unemployment policy for April and May after being made redundant at the end of Feb (had a four week waiting period). The first letter I received stated that I would be able to claim daily benefit for each day I was signing on and in receipt of JSA.My policy states payments would cease either after one year, or when I ceased to become unemployed.
Luckily, I have a new job which started on the 13th June, I duly informed my insurers only to be told that because I would be unemployed for only a part month, I would not receive any payment for the two weeks in June that I did not work. The company I bought the policy from say it is up to the underwriter and vice versa.
The underwriter also said that the letter sent to me stating the daily benefits was sent to me in error and that my policy clearly states I would be paid monthly. Well yes it does, but there is no mention of having to be out of work for complete months.
Any suggestions or should I give up? Its so stressful dealing with this,
being back at work means not being to spend time dealing with it on the phone!

Legalised thieves - that is what insurance companies are.
Sorry you've been shafted, but glad you have found a new job so soon, ironically this has probably redacted your claim.
Look on the bright side - you have a new job - big well done, and yes move on. Good luck with your new job. :A

I would put a complaint in writing along the lines of "You said this in your letter of mm/yy/dd. Please honour it. If you are not prepared to do so, please advise me how to escalate my complaint to the FOS".

Then escalate accordingly. You might not win, don't lose sleep over it in any way. But I think they'll settle up to save the FOS fee they have to pay.
